2024 Phil Hauck Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders Awarded to Four Community Leaders

Four local nonprofit leaders will pursue Masters of Business Administration degrees at St. Norbert College through the Phil Hauck Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders. The scholarship will cover half the cost of tuition to pursue an MBA through the Schneider School of Business for:
- Grace Cooper, marketing specialist with CP
- Eric Sponholtz, executive director of Literacy Green Bay
- Maddy Szymanski, annual giving coordinator at CP
- Jamy Xiong, Business and Community Health account executive with Bellin Health

A first-generation college graduate, Cooper looks to expand her knowledge to leverage current trends and evaluate successes. She sees this next step in her education as a tool to becoming a great leader by using data to make decisions, managing employee retention and expanding fundraising efforts and services available to the community.

Sponholtz has served in leadership roles with nonprofits in northeast Wisconsin for more than 12 years. He anticipates the MBA program will allow him to continue to build community awareness and support for literacy and lifelong learning through Literacy Green Bay as well as support his ongoing work with other nonprofits in the community.

In addition to her role with CP, Szymanski is the founder and president of Lucky 7 Dog Rescue in Green Bay and is involved in a number of organizations and nonprofit work. She believes in the power of education and that continuing to learn, grown and critique her skills will give her the opportunity to excel in her job and to enhance the region through her work in the nonprofit field.

Xiong, also a first-generation student, works with local employers and the community to help align lives and improve health outcomes. An MBA through St. Norbert will enhance her role as an asset to Bellin Health and the community overall while allowing her the opportunity to continue to change lives through her work.

Since its first awards beginning in 2021, the Phil Hauck scholarship has awarded more than $65,000 in support to those pursuing further growth to support the community. A longtime champion of the local economy, the late Phil Hauck was also a strong supporter of nonprofit agencies in the region, and the Phil Hauck Scholarship for Nonprofit Leaders has been established in recognition of that.
