FAFSA WATCH

Get the latest FAFSA developments

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was the cause of much chaos and confusion in the last year when the form was revamped with delays in its release. Our financial aid pros at St. Norbert College are continuing to stay on top of things as the form is expected to open for the 2025-26 academic year by Dec. 1, and this page is where you’ll find the very latest on the FAFSA.

As new information becomes available, we’ll get it onto this page.

When does the FAFSA become available?

The FAFSA is expected to be available for all students and families by Dec. 1, 2024 (in years past, it was available as early as Oct. 1). Once available, you can fill it out here. The form used for the 2025-26 academic year is going through beta testing in hopes of avoiding any bugs or delays.

When will SNC receive my FAFSA information?

As soon as St. Norbert College begins receiving student FAFSA information from the Department of Education, we will work as expediently as possible to review this information and provide financial aid offers to students. With FAFSA expected to open Dec. 1, SNC's priority deadline for students/families to complete is Jan. 1.

error

What if I receive an error message from FAFSA?

A main goal of the comprehensive beta testing is to avoid the error issues that were experienced with the FAFSA form last year. Once the form opens, SNC will continue monitoring and if there are issues with errors occurring, we will share what is communicated about corrections.

schedule

How long after you get my data will you make me a financial aid offer?

In prior years, FAFSA opened in early October and SNC was able to process data over an extended period of months. With a compressed timeframe now that FAFSA opens later on Dec. 1, our financial aid team will readjust accordingly and put together these offers as quickly as possible. They're very good at what they do!

star

I was accepted to SNC, but I can’t commit until I know how much aid I'll get. Do I risk having my acceptance withdrawn?

Absolutely not. We’ll honor your admission offer until you’ve had time to receive our financial aid offer and give it careful consideration. Our deposit deadline is May 1.
