Your first-year financial aid application

We often hear first-year students and families express surprise at how affordable a St. Norbert College education can be. But consider:

  • A private college like SNC can offer larger merit scholarships and more need-based financial aid than most public institutions.
  • More of our students graduate in four years, so fewer of them pay the extra costs associated with spending an extended amount of time in college.

We want to help you achieve your goal of attending SNC. Our office of financial aid is ready to work alongside you to explore every college financial aid option you are eligible for.

Where does the process start? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — so let’s get started!

Completing the FAFSA is straightforward — and can take less than an hour, as long as you have all of the required documentation handy. It can help to gather all of these documents in advance. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your Social Security Number, or Alien Registration Number if you are not a U.S. citizen
  • Your family’s federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned
    • Note: Most tax information will be directly transferred from the IRS and will not need to be manually entered.
  • Bank statements and records of investments, if applicable
  • Records of untaxed income, if applicable
  • An FSA ID will be required for each FAFSA contributor whose information is provided on your FAFSA. Find out more about who is considered a FAFSA contributor.

Need FAFSA help as a first-year student? Simply navigate to fafsa.gov and complete the application in December. The user-friendly application walks you through the process step-by-step, and tells you just what information is needed. If you hit a roadblock, our knowledgeable financial aid staff will be glad to assist you.

Submit your FAFSA beginning in December (Dec. 1st), and ensure that you will be considered for certain sources of college financial aid by completing the FAFSA before the SNC priority filing date of Jan. 1. SNC’s school code is 003892.

Note: Your FSA ID, which is needed to “sign” your FAFSA online, is a login ID that you will use throughout your time in college. Memorize it, or keep it in a safe place. You can get your FSA ID online. An FSA ID will be required for each FAFSA contributor whose information is provided on your FAFSA. Find out more about who is considered a FAFSA contributor.
