Apply for aid

Submit your financial aid application

We understand how important it is for college to be affordable. Our very best advice? Apply for financial aid.

St. Norbert College provides sizable financial aid, and we’re here to help you discover the affordable path to a college education.

Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

When it’s time to figure out how to pay for college, what’s the most important task on your to-do list? Fill out the FAFSA, of course!

If you don’t complete the FAFSA, you miss out on many potential sources of funding for college financial aid.

The application is a straightforward online form that’s managed by the federal government. Remember, the FAFSA is a free application. Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for need-based aid, we encourage you to apply. You may be surprised!

With all of the process and timing changes that have come as a result of the new 2024-25 FAFSA form, we've created a resource to keep you up to date. Check out our FAFSA WATCH for the latest developments.

Be sure to list SNC as a school of choice when you complete the FAFSA. The school code for SNC is 003892.

Learn about the SAI

When you submit the FAFSA, the results will include your Student Aid Index, or SAI. The SAI is a number used by financial aid offices to determine how much federal financial aid you may receive, based on the information provided on the FAFSA.

Financial need is the difference between the total cost of attendance (tuition and fees, housing, food, transportation, personal expenses, and books, course materials, supplies and equipment) and your SAI. College financial aid offices use the data from your completed FAFSA to build aid offers that best fit your financial need. Each college uses its own methodology to calculate how much aid students are offered.

SNC looks carefully at your family’s SAI (associated with your FAFSA) to determine your level of need for the upcoming academic year. We factor in all of the information available to us, and put together a financial aid offer specifically for you.

Verification

Verification is the process used to confirm the information you have reported on your FAFSA form is accurate. If the U.S. Department of Education selects your FAFSA for verification, St. Norbert College will facilitate the process of requesting and reviewing documentation required by federal student financial aid program regulations. The college may also request your FAFSA for verification to resolve any discrepancies. If any corrections are needed to the reported information, SNC will submit the corrections on your FAFSA to ensure your eligibility for financial aid has been calculated accurately.

You can find additional information regarding documentation considerations in the guide to your financial aid offer.

You may see a note on your FAFSA Submission Summary after submitting your FAFSA. Any forms being requested will be viewable in your SNC student portal, and the office of financial aid will send you regular emails until all documentation has been received.

Being selected for verification does not mean you are being accused of doing anything wrong. The U.S. Department of Education selects a certain percentage of FAFSA applicants for verification each year. This is not an indication that there is anything wrong with your FAFSA application, but does require our office to verify certain data elements on the FAFSA.

Our office will only request necessary documents to complete the verification process, and specific documentation requests will vary. You may be asked to provide documentation to verify income and tax information, household size and household information, identity and statement of educational purpose, and other data elements.

The documents will be listed in your student portal, and you will receive emails from the office of financial aid reminding you of documentation needed to complete the review of your FAFSA and finalize your financial aid offer.

In your student portal, click on the name of the document to complete any online forms. Other documents may be submitted securely at snc.edu/go/upload, faxed to 920-403-3062, or mailed to our office. Specific instructions can be found by selecting the dropdown for any listed document requests. All submitted information will remain confidential.

Please avoid uploading documents that have not been requested as unnecessary submissions may slow application review.

File sooner rather than later

We strongly suggest that you submit the FAFSA by the SNC priority filing date of Jan. 1, in order to be eligible for the most financial aid. Some sources of financial aid are limited, and those who submit applications received after Feb. 1 could miss out on certain types of funding.
